Store Manager

Valentines Austin is seeking a results-oriented Store Manager to oversee and enable the sales team and day-to-day store operations in a luxury boutique environment. Under the direction of the Executive Team, the Store Manager will develop strategies to improve customer service, increase profitability, and create store policies that will increase sales and grow the existing customer base. The Store Manager will tour the sales floor regularly, talking to colleagues and clients to identify or resolve urgent issues. The ideal candidate is organized, great with people, and has experience with and a passion for retail and fashion.

Valentines is a luxury boutique with a collection of ready-to-wear, shoes, accessories, fine and fashion jewelry, and home décor. In 1999, Teresa Windham opened the first Valentines location in Austin, Texas with a mission to “find the clothes you love to wear.” With a second location at Kerbey Lane Village that opened in 2015, both boutiques are glamorous havens that encapsulate Teresa’s passion for art, fashion, travel, and design in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Today, the team at Valentines continues to travel the world to hand select clothing that fits every aspect of women’s lives. Our team of stylists work with clients to create custom edits that elevate everyday essentials and tailor looks for special occasions. Whether we are styling a long-time client or welcoming someone for the very first time, helping each woman tap into her inner joy and feel gorgeous remains at the core of all we do.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and enable sales team:

  1. Maintain store staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results
  2. Manage and coordinate schedule for sales staff
  3. Deal with staffing issues such as interviewing potential staff, conducting appraisals and performance reviews, as well as providing or organizing training and development
  4. Forecast staffing needs by seasonality and events and develop a recruiting strategy to provide optimal staffing in all areas
  5. Communicate sales goals to team on a monthly, weekly, and daily basis using historical data to forecast KPIs
  6. Communicate daily areas of focus for sales team to support sales goals
  7. Identify product knowledge needs and communicate to Executive Team

Implement direct marketing strategies:

  1. Delegate direct clienteling tactics to sales team members; ie: direct sales team to text message customers and invite them to view new collections from designers they loved in the past
  2. Collaborate with marketing team on an as needed basis

Oversee day-to-day operations:

  1. Maintain merchandising standards of excellence for all products and displays to maximize sales and profitability
  2. Ensure End of Day checklist is managed and tasks are effectively issued
  3. Update, maintain, and train new staff on Standard Operating Procedures
    Maintain operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing program, operational and personnel policies and procedures
  4. Tour the sales floor regularly, talking to colleagues and customers to identify or resolve urgent issues

Maintain and exceed customer service standards:

  1. Ensure all customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient
  2. Enforce store policies and procedures

Report to Director of Operations, Store Owner, and Creative Director: 

  1. Meet weekly with Executive Team including Director of Operations, Store Owner, Creative Director, and Marketing Director
  2. Other tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-2 years fashion retail experience
  • 3-5 years managing a sales team
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage a sales team effectively
  • Extremely organized
  • Adept at developing and documenting policies and procedures

BENEFITS

  • Up to 50% of healthcare covered on the first of the month after 90 days. For example, if hired on or prior to August 1st, the plan would become effective November 1st

SCHEDULE

  • Full-time position
  • Must be available to work on-site at Davenport Village (3801 N Capital of Texas Hwy Ste G-180, Austin, Texas 78746) during open hours Monday - Saturday from 10am-6pm
  • 2-3 Saturdays per month (the weeks you work a Saturday, you receive a weekday off, totaling to 40 hours/week)

ANNUAL SALARY

  • $70,000 - $90,000 per year based on experience
  • Options for bonuses based on sales performance
